Visual: Video opens to the opening title with the video series title, Faculty Voices: Walden Talks Writing, then the title, “Faculty Introduction: Dr. Allyson Wattley Gee.”
Visual: The screen changes to show each speaker talking to the camera in their home offices. Each person’s name and college is listed as they speak.
Audio:
Dr. Allyson Wattley Gee, College of Management and Technology: Hello to everyone who may be watching this. My name is Allison Wattley Gee. I am the program director for MS and communication, MS in marketing, and BS in communication and have been with Walden for over 6 years now, soon to be seven I think, so it's been a little while. I have been in higher education for over 20 years. While I was a doctoral student I was teaching part-time as a grad assistant, so their idea of grad assistants was for you to actually teach the class and an instructor would just sort of pop in every now and then, so I was sort of indoctrinated pretty early into the academic world. And I'm really excited to speak about writing. Teaching communication courses is an interesting discipline, it's an interesting experience. Students are much more comfortable speaking than they are writing, so it's going to be interesting to share some ideas on the challenges of writing these days.
