Visual: The video opens to a slide with the title “Module Preview: Transitions Within and Between Paragraphs,” the picture of an open laptop with a notebook and pen on top, and the following: How do you connect ideas and incorporate transitions?
Audio: The Transitions Within and Between Paragraphs module teaches students how to connect ideas and incorporate transitions effectively into their writing.
Visual: The slide changes to a slide with the title “This module might be a good fit if you.” As the speaker continues, the following shows on the screen:
Audio: This module might be a good fit if you (a) have questions about how to effectively use transitions; (b) have been told to increase the cohesion or flow of your writing; or (c) aren’t sure how to clearly connect your ideas both within and between paragraphs.
Visual: The screen changes to show a screenshot of the module’s list of tutorials. As the speaker talks about each component, it’s highlighted in the module.
Audio: This interactive, self-paced module includes a premodule quiz, four tutorials, a postmodule quiz, and a certificate of completion. Once you complete the premodule quiz, the tutorials will become available.
Visual: As the speaker describes what the student will learn in the tutorials, sample screenshots of each tutorial are shown.
Audio: In these tutorials you’ll learn the basics of transitions, how to effectively incorporate one-word transitional words, how to incorporate transitional sentences, and how to connect ideas across multiple paragraphs.
Visual: When the speaker mentions the certificate of completion, an example certificate is shown on the screen.
Audio: Once you complete the tutorials, take the postmodule quiz until you pass with an 80% score, at which time you can save a certificate of completion.
Visual: The screen changes to a slide that says “Questions?”, the same picture of an open laptop with a notebook and pen on top, and the following: E-mail wcwebinars@mail.waldenu.edu
Audio: Effectively incorporating transitions ensures your ideas are clear and you have strong cohesion and flow in your writing, so it is important you learn about the different kinds of transitions at your disposal as an academic writer. When you’re ready to start learning about transitions within and between paragraphs, register for and complete this module!
