The below information will assist Walden students in accessing Grammarly for free using their Walden email, as well as outlines basic features of Grammarly. For technical issues or further help using Grammarly, visit Grammarly’s support website.
First-time Grammarly users should go to Grammarly's Create Your Account page to sign up for an account.
Once you have created an account, you can log in at Grammarly's homepage. Bookmark this login page for future access to the website.
When you register, remember the following:
Once you have an account, you can also download Grammarly's Microsoft Word App. Refer to Installing the Grammarly App for Microsoft Word for instructions on how to download the app.
Once you’ve logged into Grammarly, you will see the home page for your Grammarly account. To start your review, click the "New" button.
You are now ready to copy and paste your material into the white space using the "Paste" button. You can also upload your document into Grammarly.
Once your text is pasted into the white box, Grammarly will automatically begin reviewing your text. If you use the upload option, Grammarly will upload your work and instantly provide a review.
Select the type of paper you are checking. The "Academic essay" setting is a good one for many of your writing assignments.
You may also choose to turn on or turn off Grammarly’s plagiarism detection feature. This feature checks your text against existing material on the Internet—it is similar to SafeAssign but not as thorough.
Once you insert your text or upload into Grammarly, you will instantly receive your review.
Please note that the score Grammarly provides is designed to help alert you to the number of improvements you might need to make on your paper. It should not be taken as an indication (either positive or negative) of the grade you will receive on the assignment you’ve submitted.
To download your Grammarly report, click the "Score" button in the bottom right-hand corner, then click "Download detailed report."
