Peer writing mentors are high-performing Walden students who care about helping others and are experienced in both academic writing and APA guidelines. They role-model quality academic writing and APA forms and conventions, provide examples, and share credible resources for you to utilize and learn from.
In the live services they host, peer writing mentors build positive rapport and help you based on your point of need. Their just-in-time support may foster the growth and development of your writing and APA usage, increase your personal and professional growth as a learner, and contribute to your skill development and confidence.
Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate degree programs present continuous learning towards assignment deadlines and academic milestones that often consist of writing academic papers, all of which can take a lot of effort, focus, and skill. As you continue to write papers and meet assignment deadlines, you may find there are times when you could use another person to reach out to and ask about a specific writing or APA rule or recommendation. Peer writing mentors are here to help, answer your questions, and provide tips and best practices, so you can elevate your academic writing and APA knowledge overall. Additionally, peer writing mentors facilitate live small group sessions on student success topics and host live 1:1 Connect and Chat sessions where you can go to connect with another Walden student who both gets and understands the Walden student experience.
Through the APA Rapid Review service, peer writing mentors spend about 15 minutes per review, identifying 2-3 APA topics or patterns that need improvement.
