Hello and welcome to Oasis.
My name is Pat Kahoe. I'm the Dean of Walden's Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services, better known as Oasis. And I want to introduce you to the resources and services our team provides.
So, who is Oasis? We are Walden's academic support team. We can help you improve your academic and professional skills, writing, library research, or success strategies like time management. So, when you have a question, just remember Oasis is here to help you and our resources and services are completely free.
We're also very easy to find right on your homepage. In the Canvas classroom, the Oasis button will take you to the Oasis website with a simple click of a button. Our team and resources are available to you. Oasis is also available for our Tempo students from the top navigation bar. Click on Walden resources, and a drop-down menu will appear. Select Oasis Academic Support and you'll be taken to our website.
And don't forget about our help desk called Ask Oasis. Whenever you have a question, you can click on the Ask Oasis button, and we'll assist you in finding answers. We provide self-service resources and it's also a form to ask questions. The Ask Oasis desk will respond within 24 hours. So, ask away. We're here to help.
Whether it's reading support, researching in the library, solving the statistics problems, or developing a skill that can help you succeed you can always count on Oasis. We have a lot of ways to help you develop your skills. Live sessions, interactive guides and instructional web pages. Just click the Oasis button in your classroom and check out our website or send a question to Ask Oasis.
Well, we know you're busy, so thanks for taking the time to get to know what we do here in Oasis. Most importantly, good luck in your classes. We want you to have a great experience at Walden. And we're always happy to help you succeed.
OASIS (the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services) supports students in developing information literacy, writing, and other academic skills needed to succeed at Walden.
In alignment with Walden's Success by Degree approach and degree-level competencies, OASIS is structured with separate bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral teams. These teams are devoted to understanding students and programs, partnering with faculty, and developing curricular and co-curricular academic supports.
In service of Walden’s diverse student body, OASIS will integrate co-curricular and curricular academic support and instruction through cross-institutional collaboration and inclusive, evidence-based decision making.
