"It is vital to understand the total capacity of an assignment; therefore, it is essential to create a study plan. Attempt to visit the discussion board and develop assignments daily. Do not attempt to complete a project in one attempt, or you will become overwhelmed. First, create an outline for your paper. Then, draft the first few sections. Accomplishing these minor responsibilities can provide an acute sense of triumph, which will inspire you to keep working toward your end goal. "

My Doctoral Journey

My Academic Journey

Why did you choose Walden University?

I chose Walden because of the credentials, courses, and social change it offers students and faculties. And it is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

What has been your favorite class at Walden (to date) and why?

My favorite class thus far was Psychology of Motivation at Work. It focused on motivating employees in the organization and the steps needed to encourage employees' morale and increase retention and production.

What have you learned about yourself so far on your academic journey?

A valuable life lesson that I learned is the significance of patience. Being patient has allowed me to organize and approach my assignments more effectively. If I felt overwhelmed, I would step away from my school website, and when I returned, I would reapproach the assignment from a different angle.

My Mentorship Experiences

My Mentorship Experiences

Who is your academic, professional, or personal mentor? Why has this person been so important to you?

My personal mentor is now my husband; he encourages me to be me and continue to serve others. He is always there for me, and my family and he have supported me with my education and dreams.

What is a fear or anxiety you had about starting school that you no longer have?

I was anxious about the cost of my degree, so I paid off my loan from my master’s before I started my Ph.D. program.

Why did you want to be a peer mentor?

I would like to provide support, encouragement, and nurturing to my peers that will benefit their mental health and wellness.
