Writing is a form of communication between people in a shared community. In scholarly communities, writing takes on nuances depending on the particular discipline (psychology, education, nursing, etc.). In addition to learning the general conventions of scholarly writing and APA style, you should become familiar with the conventions of your particular discipline by reading widely in the published literature of that discipline.
