Zotero technical support and the Library

The Walden Library is unable to provide technical support for Zotero. The Zotero developers provide a variety of ways to find help for technical issues on the Zotero website. Please check the Troubleshooting links below for the places to find answers for the most common issues. 

Zotero proxy issues after November 9 2021

Some back end changes to the Library resulted in a few unexpected issues with the Library and Zotero. Zotero still works with the Library and has the same kind of functionality, so don't panic!

If you installed Zotero before November 9, 2021 you will want to check a couple settings to make sure Zotero continues to work smoothly for you.

Clear Proxy Settings in the Zotero Connector

  1. Right click on the Zotero connector icon in your internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc).
  2. Click on Preferences.

  3. Click on the tab for Proxies on the Preferences page.
  4. If you see anything in the Configured Proxies box, remove it/them.
  5. To remove, click on an item to highlight, then click on the minus sign under the box.


Clear open URL resolver settings in desktop Zotero

  1. Open Zotero on your desktop.
  2. Click Edit on the toolbar.
  3. Click Preferences. A preference popup box will open.

  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. Remove in the Resolver box Under Open URL.

    Note: This is an old link that may cause issues.
    Different links should not cause any problems.

  6. Click OK at the bottom of the popup box.

Note: If you see in the Resolver box that is okay.

Note: There is not currently a workable option for an open URL resolver for Zotero.
