Database Access

Access to the Walden Library subscription databases is available to students actively enrolled in a current or future course, current faculty, and Walden University staff.

Graduating students: Access is available through the last day of enrolled courses.

Alumni: Alumni do not have access to Library databases per our vendor licenses. An Alumni Library of curated, open-access databases focused on scholarly research is available to graduates.

Library Access Policy

Logging Into Databases

There are multiple ways to access the Walden Library subscription databases. If you access the Library through the Student Portal or your classroom (Canvas or Brightspace), you will automatically be signed into the databases. If you access the Library through a link from a website or if you bookmarked the Library in your web browser, you may be prompted to sign in using your student email and password.

If it is your first time using the Library Multi-Database Search on the Library homepage or an EBSCO database, you will also be prompted to create a personalized account.

EBSCO Personalized Accounts

When you use the Library Multi-Database Search or an EBSCO database for the first time, you’ll be prompted to create a personal account and be presented with two options.

  • Continue personalized: This option allows you to save searches and items within the database.
  • Skip for now: If this option is selected, no search information will be saved or stored. You will not be able to save articles or searches, and each time you use the Multi-Database Search (or other EBSCO database), you will be prompted to consent or decline.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking the MyEBSCO icon on the database landing page.

Switching and Merging EBSCO Accounts

If you have an EBSCO account from another university, you can switch between accounts or merge them together. To do this, first click the MyEBSCO link in the top-right of Library Multi-Database Search of any EBSCO database.

  • Switch accounts: In MyEBSCO, click the ‘Sign out of MyEBSCO’ button. Sign into your other account as you normally would.
  • Merge accounts: In MyEBSCO, click the ‘Manage your account’ link, scroll down to ‘Merge account,’ and click the “Get started’ link.
