How is a Peer Mentor different from an academic advisor or course instructor?
First and foremost, peer mentors are students. Unlike instructors and academic advisors, they are not experts who can teach course content or register you for classes. However, their unique position as students allows them to offer support and advice based on their own experiences. For example, while peer mentors are not able to withdraw you from a class, they can point you towards helpful resources and share their strategies for approaching similar challenges.
What are the benefits of connecting with a peer mentor?
Peer mentors are high-performing Walden students who are eager to share tips and advice based on their academic experiences. In particular, peer mentors can help you establish social connections with others students, build confidence, access valuable resources and support, and learn effective study strategies and academic skills.
