Company Research Overview

This guide will introduce you to Walden Library databases and Internet research tools that can help you find practical information about companies.

The amount and quality of information available about a specific company will depend on whether that company is public or private. Public companies, by law, must disclose information to the SEC; therefore, a lot of information about public companies is available to the general public.

Private companies, on the other hand, are not required to disclose information to the SEC. It can be difficult to find reliable information about a private company, simply because that information isn't available to any sources outside of the company, like government agencies, journalists, or the general public.

You can use this guide to help you Find Company ProfilesFind Company Financials, and Find Articles on Companies.
