For this week's discussion, you are asked to find 2-3 credible resources that focus on trends in security issues in the information systems/information technology world.  The instructions recommend focusing on articles that describe trends that could or do affect global and domestic business operations.

This guide will provide instructions on how to:

  • develop keywords.
  • select a database to search.
  • locate relevant materials.

Search for articles on security issues

Here is how you can access the information systems & technology resources in the Walden Library. 

  1. On the Library homepage, navigate to the Research by Subject box.
  2. Click on Research by Subject and choose: Information Systems & Technology
  3. Now let's choose the database Computers and Applied Sciences Complete. Login with your myWalden email and password. 
  4. Login with your myWalden email and password. 
  5. Type your keywords into the search boxes for example:



    First Search Box:  

    data security OR data breach

    Note: The OR searches for either term.

    Second Search Box:  

    retail

  6. Under the search boxes, click inside the check mark boxes for "Full Text" and "Peer Reviewed".
  7. Here's what the Full Text and Peer Reviewed boxes look like:


     
  8. Click on Search. Review your results for relevant articles.

Brainstorming keywords

For search terms, think of some terms that represent security issues that you've discussed in class or that you have heard about from other sources, such as the news.  You could try any of these topics:

  • data security 
  • data breaches
  • network security
  • cloud security
  • security policy
  • cybersecurity
