Doctoral Research Appointments: Doctoral Research Appointments

Doctoral Research Appointments

The Center for Research Quality offers two types of individual appointments for capstone students:  Research Design Alignment and SPSS and Statistics Tutoring.

Please read the information below carefully to determine the best fit for where you are in the capstone process.

  • Research Design Alignment: If you are working on your premise, prospectus, or proposal (and your proposal has not been approved), the Research Design Alignment appointments are designed for your needs. Please schedule a Research Design Alignment appointment for assistance with alignment of your problem statement, purpose, research design, research questions, sample size, data collection, and data analysis.
  • SPSS/Statistics Tutoring: If your proposal has been approved and you need help with statistics, quantitative data analysis, and SPSS related concerns (e.g., data files, data input, data interpretation, etc.), please schedule an SPSS Tutoring appointment.

Methodology Advice Office Hours

The Center for Research Quality also offers methodology advice through Methodology Advice Office Hours.

Office Hours are offered weekly and provide a group setting where students may ask questions and receive advice about research methodology at any stage during dissertation or doctoral study research. Students may ask any questions pertaining to writing a prospectus or proposal, choosing a research design, collecting data, analyzing data, or writing up results. Since this is a group advising environment, individual students will take turns to ask their questions and receive answers. Students who are waiting for their turn can often learn useful information from listening to other students’ questions.

Office Hours are appropriate for brief questions and answers (usually no more than 10 minutes).
