Important information for students who entered the program prior to the summer of 2024

Starting in the summer of 2024, the field experience courses and requirements have changed. Those changes are outlined below. All students must adhere to the course requirements outlined in this Field Experience Manual, regardless of program start date. The previous versions of the courses are equivalent to the new versions of the courses so, for example, students who have COUN 8890 Practicum on their program of study will take COUN 8897 Internship I in its place and credit for COUN 8890 will br provided for the successful completion of COUN 8897 Internship I. Contact the Office of Field Experience for specific information about how this change in requirements affects your field experience.

COUN 8898 Internship II
  • 200 total hours
  • A portion of which is Teaching and Supervision experiences arranged by Walden
  • Also includes 1 additional experience arranged by the student
COUN 8896 Internship II
  • 600 hours over 2 quarters (Internship I and II)
  • At least 3 domains
  • All experiences arranged by student
 COUN 8899 Internship III
  • 200 total hours
  • A portion of which is Teaching and Supervision experiences arranged by Walden
  • Also includes 1 additional experience arranged by the student
