Professionalism in Field Experience
While Walden University students are always expected to demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the university’s Code of Conduct and the School of Counseling requires students to adhere to the Professional Dispositions for counseling students throughout the program, field experience requires an additional focus on these behaviors as you evolve from your role as a student to that of a counselor-in-training. You will be actively engaged in professional settings, providing services to vulnerable populations, and representing Walden University and the School of Counseling to the public. You are encouraged to review relevant ethical codes (e.g. ACA Code of Ethics, NBCC Code of Ethics), School of Counseling Professional Dispositions, and university policies (e.g. Code of Conduct, especially the Professional Competence Policy) to ensure that you are well-prepared for this new level of responsibility.
