CES Internship Evaluation
Students should be rated only on items that fall under the domains in which they are completing internship experiences this quarter. It is understood that not all of the items listed will apply to a particular experience, so some items may be rated as “NA.” Students should receive ratings on at least 3 of the items listed under each of the domains in which they are participating.

1 = Demonstrated skill proficiently (or not applicable)

Clinical/Counseling

Teaching

Research and Scholarship
- Implement research designs appropriate to quantitative and qualitative research questions

Leadership and Advocacy
- Participate in leadership and leadership development in professional organizations
- Exhibit leadership in counselor education programs

- Practice leadership, management, and administration in counseling organizations and other institutions
- Establish leadership roles and strategies for responding to crises and disasters
- Incorporate the role of counselors and counselor educators advocating on behalf of the profession and professional identity
- Apply models and competencies for advocating for clients at the individual, system, and policy levels
- Implement strategies of leadership in relation to current multicultural and social justice issues
Student Disposition Assessment
Rate the student's development for each disposition using the following scale:
- DEFICIENT: The student exhibits behavior that conflicts with the expected competency - remediation is necessary.
- ADEQUATE: The student demonstrates the expected competency according to their regular growth and development as a professional counselor.
Responsibility
- Engagement: Punctually attends scheduled meetings, actively contributes in required academic settings, and promotes other students' learning.
- Accountability: Accepts personal contributions to academic, skills, and comportment deficiencies and acts responsibly to enhance professional effectiveness.
Fitness
- Relationships: Interacts with others in a professional manner and effectively navigates interpersonal differences.
- Sensitivity: Attends to the feelings, experiences, and perceptions of others and consistently honors their autonomy.
- Impartiality: Displays contextual and cultural competency by valuing the fundamental rights, dignity, and worth of all people – including respect for age, culture, disability, ethnicity, race, religion/spirituality, gender, sexual orientation, marital/partnership status, language preference, socioeconomic status, veteran status, immigration status, or any basis proscribed by law or as defined by potential clients' experience.
Maturity
- Discipline: Exhibits ability to control personal stress, self-disclosure (e.g. understands the concept of self-disclosure and uses it appropriately with clients, peers, and supervisors), and excessive emotional reactions that interfere with professional functioning.
- Awareness: Manifests alertness of how personal beliefs, attitudes, values, and behaviors affect others and uses sound judgment to properly assess situations.
- Growth: Exhibits willingness to engage in self-examination, challenge assumptions, and integrate feedback to reach an acceptable level of competency.
Integrity
- Communication: Displays respectful tone and uses open, honest, and accurate statements in dealing with others.
- Congruence: Demonstrates ability to acquire and integrate ethical codes, accreditation standards, and institutional policy into one's repertoire of professional behavior in all settings.
