Skype integrates with Outlook, making it very easy to schedule a Skype meeting from Outlook.
Here's the quick and dirty overview of things to know about Skype meetings.
- meeting rooms are not time-based
- one-time meeting rooms expire after 14 days
- recurring meeting rooms expire 14 days after last recurrence
- you can set attendee participation (chat, mute, block video)
- you can upload meeting content before the meeting
- you can have a lobby where attendees wait for the meeting to start
Schedule the meeting in Outlook
To schedule a meeting in Outlook:
- Open a meeting invite and add meeting time, attendee list, and meeting information as normal.
- Click the Skype Meeting button in the ribbon.
- The Skype Meeting link is added to the body of the invite, and Skype Meeting is added to the Location.
- Click the Meeting Options button in the ribbon.
- Select options. See information on meeting options.
Note: You can update the meeting options at any time. You don't have to do it when you schedule the meeting, although it is recommended that you do it then.
- Send meeting invitation as usual.
Schedule the meeting in Outlook 365 (webmail)
To schedule a meeting in Outlook 365:
- Open a meeting invite and add meeting time, attendee list, and meeting information as normal.
- In the meeting toolbar, click Skype Meeting, then click Add Skype meeting.
- The Skype Meeting link is added to the body of the invite, and Online meeting is added to the Location.
- Send meeting invitation as usual.
Note: You cannot set meeting options from within Outlook 365. You must go into the meeting room to set the options.
