Skype for Business: Record a meeting

Record a meeting

You can record a Skype meeting.  You can select which recorded components are published after the meeting is recorded.

The following are recorded:

  • audio
  • video
  • chat
  • screen sharing
  • PowerPoint slides
  • whiteboard activity
  • polling

 

Any presenter can record the meeting.  Multiple people can record the meeting at the same time.

The recording is saved in MP4 format.

 

To record a meeting:

  1. Tell attendees you are recording the meeting.
  2. Click the three dots in the lower right corner.
  3. Click Start Recording.

 

  1. See the Recording has started confirmation and the red and white recording button.

Pause & stop recording

Pause or stop recording:

  1. Click the three dots in the lower right corner.
  2. Click Pause Recording or Stop Recording, or click the Pause/Stop icons next to the phone icon.

 

  1. See the Recordings have stopped confirmation message.

Note: This confirmation is for your recording only.  If someone else is recording, stopping recording on your computer won't stop it on theirs.

Save recordings

After you stop a recording, Skype will begin to process it. Depending on the length of the recording, this may take some time.

You can view the recording status within the meeting or from the main Skype for Business window.

 

View recording status and save the recording in the meeting room:

  1. Click the three dots in the lower right corner.
  2. Click Manage Recordings.  This opens the Skype for Business Recording Manager.

 

  1. See the recording status in the Status field. 
  • Pending: meeting is processing
  • Completed: meeting is ready to publish
  1. Once the Status is complete, click the Publish button.
  2. On the Save and Publish window, browse to where you want to save the recording.
  3. Click the Options button and select the items you want to publish.
  4. Click OK to publish the recording as an MP4 file to the desired location.

 

From Skype for Business:

  1. Click Tools in the blue toolbar or the drop-down arrow by the gear icon.
  2. Click Recording Manager.

 

  1. See the recording status in the Status field. 
  • Pending: meeting is processing
  • Completed: meeting is ready to publish
  1. Once the Status is complete, click the Publish button.
  2. On the Save and Publish window, browse to where you want to save the recording.
  3. Click the Options button and select the items you want to publish.

 

  1. Click OK to publish the recording as an MP4 file to the desired location.  Depending on the length of the recording, this may take some time.

Manage recordings

The Recordings Manager contains a list of all meetings, except those you have deleted.
