Skype for Business: Add contacts

You can contact any Walden staff, full-time faculty, and Walden University staff through Skype for Business.  This also includes some staff from other GPS institutions.

Note: Avoid contacting unknown employees outside of the Office of Academic Support through Skype.  Contacting peers and direct managers through Skype is fine.  Only contact other managers, Directors, Executive Directors, etc. through Skype if you already have an established working relationship with them.

Find people

Use the Find Someone search to find people by name or email address.  Skype will provide suggestions as you type.

You can search within My Contacts (Walden/Walden University) or within the Skype Directory. 

Note: The Skype Directory is the actual all-Skype Directory.  As in, everyone who uses Skype everywhere in the world.  So while you can find your grandma in there, if she uses Skype, you really want to stick to My Contacts while at work.

Manage your contacts

You can create Groups to manage your contacts.

To create a Group:

  1. Click the Groups tab.
  2. Click the + icon right below the search button.
  3. Click Create a New Group.
  4. Type the group name in the New Group field.


Add a contact to a Group:

  1. Use the search to find the person you want to add.
  2. Right-click the contact in the results list.
  3. Click Add to Contacts List.
  4. Click the appropriate Group.

Add to favorites

You can add people to your Favorites, if you don't want to put them in Groups. 

To add someone to your Favorites:

  1. Search for the person.
  2. Right-click their name in the results.
  3. Click Add to Favorites.
