Complete Pre-Practicum 1 after you have completed COUN 6316 and COUN 6722; required in order to advance into term 5 (COUN 6720 and COUN 6250).
Focus: Skill development as a scholar-practitioner, expand your network of peers and faculty members, develop professional skills and identity, begin to apply the core skills and techniques introduced in the Techniques course, and begin to develop the multicultural competencies needed for counseling. |
Pre-Practicum 2 (CPLB 602L) |
Required online and integrated synchronous experience

Complete Pre-Practicum 2 after you have completed COUN 6720 and COUN 6250; required in order to advance into term 8 (COUN 6730 and COUN 6743).
Focus: Further develop core skills from Pre-Practicum 1, integrate advanced skills in your development as a scholar-practitioner, expand your network of peers and faculty members, further develop your professional skills and identity, begin to develop group leadership skills, integrate counseling theory, and continue to demonstrate cultural competency skills, develop your upcoming field experience plan, and continue credentialing skills activities. |

International Students: View the SEVIS/I-20 site for complete information about the requirement for travel to pre-practicum experiences in the U.S. Be sure to complete your I-20 paperwork 3-4 months before the pre-practicum lab start date in order to allow sufficient time to complete the required processes and approvals for you to be able to travel and attend.
