Before Your Event: Register

Overview

Residencies align with critical courses at strategic points in your program and you will get the most out of your residency experiences and your online courses when you complete your residencies within the required program timeframe.

REGISTER TODAY! Registration for academic residencies is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Be sure to register as soon as registration opens for your desired location to reserve your seat, allow time to make travel and lodging arrangements, and plan your budget to use personal finances, loan and/or financial aid disbursements to cover the cost of residency fees and related travel expenses.

If you wish to register for a residency after it has reached its maximum capacity, you may request to be placed on a waitlist by contacting your Student Success Advisor with your student ID, name, and the location of the residency. You will be automatically registered if/when additional seating becomes available.

When to Register

Plan your residencies several months in advance by watching the calendar for dates, locations and residency registration opening dates. If registration is not yet open for the residency you want to attend, register as soon as registration opens because seating is limited.

In most programs, you should register for and attend your first residency as soon as you begin your program.

Exceptions:

  • Students in MS counseling programs and MSW, consult the Timing table for the timing of your pre-practicum or skills lab;
  • International students register for a residency that is 3-4 months out from your start date.

How to Register

Please review all information about the timing requirements for your program prior to registering. It is very important that you also know the term (quarter or semester) for which you are registering.

Keep in mind:

  • You will not be billed for the residency fee until the term of the event.
  • You cannot register if you have a Bursar hold on your account.
  • If you are currently on a leave of absence, you cannot register until you have submitted a return date. Then you may only register for a residency that takes place after your return date.

To register, log in to myWalden and follow a process similar to course registration.

Exceptions to the Online Registration Process:

  • Students in the PhD professional psychology licensure (Blended AYR) program will be automatically registered for blended residencies within select courses; however you do need to register for your required PhD residencies using the process described above.
  • Students in BSW, MSW, MS counseling or CES counseling, see the Required Timing page for your program and select your program for information about registration timing and how to submit a request to be registered for your skills lab or pre-practicum lab.
  • Students registering for optional intensive retreats must contact Student Success Advising to request registration.

Steps to Register

Follow these steps to register for your doctoral residency or intensive retreat.

Then, confirm your registration:

  1. Click the “Academics” tab.
  2. Click “Future Courses” and verify the residency you selected is displayed.
  3. You will receive a residency registration confirmation email within 5-7 business days after your registration is processed.

Technical Issues

If you experience technical issues when trying to register for your residency, contact the Customer Care Team. CCT is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Contact the Customer Care Team from your myWalden portal by choosing the “Support” tab and clicking on “Click to Chat.”

You can also call 1-800-WALDENU (925-3368) or e-mail support@mail.waldenu.edu. Please include your name, student ID number, and degree program with any correspondence.

 

myWalden Portal Issues

If you are experiencing problems within your myWalden portal, contact Student Success Advising. For fastest assistance, please send your Student Success Advisor an email with the name and location of your preferred residency.

 

Bursar Holds

If you have a Bursar hold on your account, you will not be able to register.  View Why do I have a Bursar or Document Hold on my account?
