During Your Residency: During & After Your Residency

Attendance Requirements

Attendance is required for ALL event sessions in order to successfully complete your course.

  • Your registration confirmation email provides important details about event start and end times for your program as well as the location of all of your sessions.
  • You are expected to make travel arrangements that allow enough time for you to check in by the date and time listed in the schedule and stay until the conclusion of the last session on the last day of your event.
  • Late arrival, early departure and/or missed sessions may result in the loss of academic units and/or an incomplete course grade.
  • Daily sessions typically begin around 8 a.m. and last through early evening.

For the complete event schedule, please see your confirmation email to download the Event App. The daily schedule will be available two weeks prior to the start of the event.

Classrooms

Blackboard Classroom

The classroom for your residency, lab or intensive will be available in Blackboard approximately three weeks prior to the start of the event. Before you arrive, you need to access this classroom to complete any pre-work (if required), review the learning outcomes and assignments, and print or save necessary documents.

Log in to your myWalden university portal to access the Blackboard classroom.

You will continue to have access to the Blackboard classroom for 60 days after the event concludes. However, from this point forward, you may need to access it by clicking on “Recent Courses” in your myWalden university portal. Once your event is complete, the classroom link you have been using will be removed from your list of current courses. You may wish to download course materials to save for reference and use later in your program.

Virtual Residency Classroom

Access to the virtual event Blackboard classroom will be available in your myWalden university portal three weeks prior to the start of the event. Before the start, you need to access this classroom to complete pre-work (if required), review the learning outcomes and assignments, and print or save necessary documents.

Venue Classrooms

For the purpose of your face-to-face academic event, Walden will be utilizing hotel meeting room, convention center and/or hotel suite meeting space as the primary location for your academic sessions. Due to the layout of the meeting room space, transitioning short distances and/or the use of elevators, stairways or escalators to/from residency session locations may be required.

In addition, other groups or organizations (private or public, for-profit or non-profit) may be offering an event in meeting spaces adjacent to spaces dedicated for the Walden academic event. Due to privacy regulations, Walden is not provided other event or group names until arrival at the venue. Walden does not endorse any event, group or organization hosting events in meeting spaces shared with Walden University. Additionally, as you are acting as a representative of Walden University while attending your academic event, you are expected to comply with standards of professional conduct as specified in the Walden University Student Handbook.

Daily Schedule

The academic residency/skills lab/pre-practicum experience daily schedule is available through an Event App accessible via smart phones, tablets as well as online via a website link. Daily sessions typically begin around 8 a.m. and last through early evening. The daily schedule will be available in the Event App two weeks prior to the start of the event. See your registration confirmation email for information about accessing the Event App.

All Walden students, faculty and staff attending academic residencies, intensives, skills labs and/or pre-practicum events must adhere to the Walden University Residency App Terms and Conditions. Event App access is restricted to Walden University students, faculty and staff for personal, educational purposes only.
