The Field Experience telephone is answered by the Assistant Field Education Coordinators, who can answer general questions, provide you resources, offer you support and help guide you to information available on the website or in the Practicum Manual.  If you have in-depth questions, please schedule an appointment  with a Field Experience staff member. During times of high call volume, it is recommended to utilize live chat, schedule an appointment or send an email to contact us. 



Live Chat

Live Chat support is available during the following times:

Monday – Friday (Note:  Times are in Central Time Zone)

8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Steps to Live Chat with the Field Experience Office: 

  1. Log in to your myWalden student portal.  Your portal is available at  
  2. Click on “HELP” tab in the right-hand corner of the top tool bar.
  3. Click on “LIVE CHAT SUPPORT” link. 
  4. Click on the “FIELD EXPERIENCE” box to chat with the Field Experience Office. 

Phone Appointments

Nursing students can schedule an appointment to speak with a Field Experience staff member by telephone. Appointments allow you to discuss more detailed and complex matters related to field experience that cannot be adequately resolved via email or live chat.

Read the appointment policies below:

  • Most questions are answered on our website and in the Practicum Manual.  It is expected that students review these materials in detail prior to scheduling an appointment.
  • Appointment times are in Eastern Time Zone so please be cognizant of the time zone differences when you schedule your appointment time. 
  • When you reserve your appointment, you'll be able to note the purpose for the appointment. This helps the field experience staff member to better prepare for your conversation, so please be very detailed.
  • Please make note of what telephone number you entered when reserving the appointment and be available at that number at the time of your call. If you do not answer at the scheduled appointment time, the appointment will be canceled.
  • Due to the scientific studies showing a higher risk of car accidents from talking on a cell phone while one is driving, we do not conduct telephone appointments with students while they are driving motor vehicles.  If you are driving a motor vehicle at the time of your scheduled appointment, we will ask you to pull over to the side of the road to give our conversation your full attention, or we will require that your appointment be rescheduled.
  • Ideally, please plan to be in front of your computer for your appointment so that we can guide you to resources on our website.  If this is not possible, please have a pen and paper available to take notes.
  • If you will not attend your scheduled appointment, please use the link in your appointment email confirmation to cancel or email so that we can open up the time slot for another student.
