Important Travel Information (3/10/20)

Dear Student,

As you know, Walden University has been closely monitoring the coronavirus and its potential impact on our students, faculty and staff. We continue to follow the guidance and recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control to stay current in what is a very fluid and rapidly evolving situation.

Based on updates we have received from both the CDC and local health organizations in Houston, we are transitioning the Houston in-person residency to a virtual-format beginning Thursday, March 12th at 10 am CST. I apologize for this last-minute change, and I want you to know that we have made this decision out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of our students and faculty.

Walden has provided virtual residency options to students in a number of programs and we are confident you will have an outstanding student experience. All of our virtual residency events are offered during the same time frame, with the same rigorous content as our on-site experiences. There will be an Orientation for how to access the virtual residency and how to attend sessions.

Please cancel your travel and lodging reservations immediately. Contact the Student Success Team if you are not able to secure refunds for hotel and/or airfare for your planned residency trip.

Students Staying at the Hyatt Regency Houston: If you are already on site and want to remain, Walden has staff on the ground who will meet with you Wednesday, March 11th at either 12 noon or 5pm in the Cottonwood Room.

Walden staff will ensure you participate in a virtual residency experience in a safe environment.

Students Not Staying at the Hyatt Regency Houston and or Have Not Yet Traveled to Houston: If you have not yet traveled to Houston, you will be able to attend the event sessions virtually. All students will have access to Blackboard and full instructions for using the site by no later than Wednesday, March 11th at 5pm.

Students who do not wish to participate virtually should contact the Student Success Team to cancel and sign up for a face-to-face residency option.

We understand you may have questions, so please contact the Student Success Team by phone: 1-800-WALDENU [925-3368] or email: studentsuccess@mail.waldenu.edu.

Again, my apologies for this late change in your residency schedule.

Sincerely,

Ward Ulmer, PhD
President
