Meditrek Guide for Counseling Students: Field Experience Time Log

Entering Hours in Meditrek

Students should log into Meditrek to track field experience hours daily.

  1. Select Time Log on your Meditrek Welcome Page.
  2. Click on "Submit New Entry
  3. Select responses for each of the fields at the top of the screen:
    • Quarter, Program (Click the “Change” button if you make changes these fields)
    • Site Supervisor (Students with more than one site will log hours separately under the approved supervisor for each field site.)
    • Rotation (Practicum or Internship)
    • Date (when hours were accrued)
  4. Input your hours for the day in the appropriate categories.
    • The specific category or categories listed under "Program-Specific" direct hours will vary by program (1). The image below is a CMHC time log entry. MCFC, for example, would list Couple and Family hours in this section.
    • Note the separate columns for In-Office, In-Home, and Telemental Health for logging Direct hours (2), as well as for Onsite and Distance for logging Supervision hours (3).
    • School Counseling students will log all Direct hours under School Guidance Counseling. See the School Counseling Direct vs. Indirect Hours Guide for more information about direct hours for SC field experiences.
    •
  5. Click the “Submit” button to complete this entry.

Viewing Total Hours

To view your total hours for each field experience:

  1. Click on "Time Log" on your Meditrek Welcome screen.
  2. Use the filters to select the field experience you would like to view hours for (e.g. "All Practicum" or "All Internship")
  3. From here you can view the daily record of hours, showing approval by site and faculty supervisors. You can also use the links on the right to edit or delete individual entries, if they have not already been approved by the site or faculty supervisors.*
  4. At the bottom of the page, you can view your progress toward each of the hourly requirements of the field experience:

*If you need to make changes to entries already approved by your site and/or faculty supervisor, your site or faculty supervisor can "reject" the entries on their end, which will allow you to make the necessary adjustments.
