Benefits of Serving as a Preceptor

At Walden we provide a diverse community of career professionals the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so that they effect positive social change. As a preceptor, we thank you for being an important part of our students’ learning process through the onsite supervision and mentoring you provide as a part of their field experiences, and for partnering with us in our mission of positive social change. Students often report that field experience has been the highlight of their educational journey and you make that possible.

We surveyed 4,000 onsite supervisors, preceptors, cooperating teachers and principal mentors of Walden students about how we could thank them for working with a Walden student. Based on the feedback we received we are offering the following to our preceptors:

Honorary Clinical Instructor status.  This status can be claimed during the period of time you are working with a Walden student and establishes the guidelines for instructors that are provided by the academic program of the student(s) you are working with.  This is an honorary status, which is given without payment, and does not make you an employee or agent of Walden or entitle you to receive employment benefits from Walden.
