What is Field Experience?

Walden University refers to its social work internships as Field Experience (Field for short). Field Experience is an integral part of the social work program at Walden. The purpose of Field is to help our students integrate classroom learning and knowledge to real social work practice. Field gives students the opportunity to develop the skills and competencies that are necessary for professional social work practice.

Our team of professionals in the Field Office is committed to partnering with our students and community social service agencies to offer a valuable learning experience. We are dedicated to helping you grow as a student and professional.

Please contact us with any questions you may have about Field Experience. General questions for MSW can be sent to MSWfield@mail.waldenu.edu, BSW can be sent to BSWfield@mail.waldenu.edu

Social Work Programs in the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work

Master of Social Work Program

Walden University is proud to be the first institution to offer an online Master of Social Work (MSW) program designed to help you expand your career opportunities in the growing field of social work.

As a social worker, you can help marginalized and oppressed populations achieve social equity and improve their quality of life. The program is clinically informed and designed to build skills that prepare students to apply social work theory and methods to engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate interventions in situations involving individuals, families, and groups. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a variety of community settings. The program offers students four clinical concentration areas including: Advanced Clinical Practice, Military Social Work, Social Work in Healthcare, and Social Work with Children and Families.
