Telemental Health (effective Spring 2022)
Students are permitted to provide telemental health (TMH) counseling services to clients if all of the following requirements are met:
Program-Specific Hours (effective Summer 2021)
Students completing CMHC and MCFC field experiences are no longer required to meet a minimum number of “program-specific” hours:
MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling practicum consists of 100 hours of clinical field experience, including at least 40 hours of direct counseling. Students must engage in an experience in accordance with the program of study (i.e. clinical mental health counseling). Students may also engage in other forms of counseling including couples, family, and/or group mental health counseling as part of the practicum. Students must also earn a minimum of 15 hours of group supervision from their faculty supervisor and 10 hours of individual or triadic supervision from their Walden-approved site supervisor for each term of enrollment in practicum.
MS in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling
The MS in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling practicum consists of 100 hours of clinical field experience, including at least 40 hours of direct counseling. Students must engage in an experience in accordance with the program of study (i.e. couple and/or family counseling). Students should also engage in some individual counseling and may provide group counseling as well. Students must also earn a minimum of 15 hours of group supervision from their faculty supervisor and 10 hours of individual or triadic supervision from their Walden-approved site supervisor for each term of enrollment in practicum.
