Applying theoretical frameworks

It is critical to identify a relevant theoretical framework for your proposed research, distinguishing theoretical from conceptual frameworks. In the PPPA-8115 course, you will analyze the use of theoretical frameworks in public policy and administration research, and identify a number of frameworks that are pertinent to this field.  This document provides the background for the use of theoretical frameworks in your SPPA Ph.D. dissertation research.

Literature synthesis illustrations

Visual designs are useful in illustrating the concept and process of reviewing and synthesizing literature. As you apply these tools in your own work, you will find it easier to locate the intersection of the major topics in the literature that help you focus on your research topic. These illustrations may be helpful as you conceptualize your own process in synthesizing the research literature.
