Walden University recommends that all students who attend practicum experiences be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Students must comply with their practicum sites policies, which may require COVID-19 vaccination and/or COVID-19 testing. Students should contact their practicum site to ensure compliance with the site’s vaccination and/or testing policies. Review Walden’s COVID-19 Policy at https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/covid-19/vaccination-policy . The College of Nursing will begin having students document their COVID-19 vaccination status in CastleBranch as part of the onboarding process beginning Winter 2022. Students should contact the Office of Field Experience with any questions regarding onboarding requirements in CastleBranch.
Upcoming Deadline - June 1st: If you plan to take a practicum course during Fall Quarter (August 28th, 2023), you will need to submit your application by June 1st, 2023 via Meditrek. Please take the time to review the appropriate preceptors and field sites for your course as well as the application process.
Students can now login to Meditrek using their Walden University single sign on credentials. To access Meditrek using single sign on, students should use the URL edu.meditrek.com/waldenu/student . Click here for video tutorial.
Since the Influenza vaccination is not available during the Summer term and the start of the Fall term, students do not need to complete the influenza (flu) requirement in CastleBranch to be approved for practicum for the Summer term and the start of the Fall term. Students completing practicum during the Fall term need to complete the influenza requirement in CastleBranch beginning September 1st. Students must complete the influenza requirement in CastleBranch and be compliant for the Winter term and Spring term for the current flu season.
The deadline is two months before the first day of the term. The deadline is to ensure onboarding requirements are compliant for the upcoming term and to meet the deadlines of practicum sites. For the May 29, 2023 term start, onboarding requirements must be completed by March 29, 2023.
