Using Job Search Sites

Job boards are a great place to start your search.  They allow you to research job titles, find companies in your area, and get an idea of experience required for your desired position. While you do not want to limit your job search exclusively to job boards, knowing about these five sites can help you to locate opportunities and learn more about the job market in your area.

Indeed.com – One of the largest job search aggregators with millions of job listings from thousands of websites.

CareerBuilder.com – An expansive job board that includes job opportunities directly from employers and partnerships with local newspapers.

Glassdoor.com – This website features company ratings, reviews, interview questions, and salary information; in addition to job postings.

LinkedIn.com – While it is the largest professional networking site, this website also features job postings and can help you search for opportunities that match the skills listed on your LinkedIn profile.

Google for Jobs – Did you know that you can use Google to search for jobs? Type your job criteria into the search bar and Google will aggregate results from a variety of sources. You can filter by location, date posted, and more.

You can find more resources and tools on the Career Exploration page. For more focused searches, check out Job Search Sites by Subject below.
