PPNP Preceptor Resources: Preceptor Benefits Package

Benefits of Serving as a Preceptor

At Walden we provide a diverse community of career professionals the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so that they effect positive social change. As a preceptor, we thank you for being an important part of our students’ learning process through the onsite supervision and mentoring you provide as a part of their field experiences, and for partnering with us in our mission of positive social change. Students often report that field experience has been the highlight of their educational journey and you make that possible.

We surveyed 4,000 onsite supervisors, preceptors, cooperating teachers and principal mentors of Walden students about how we could thank them for working with a Walden student. Based on the feedback we received we are offering the following to our preceptors:

Honorary Clinical Instructor status.  This status can be claimed during the period of time you are working with a Walden student and establishes the guidelines for instructors that are provided by the academic program of the student(s) you are working with. This is an honorary status, which is given without payment, and does not make you an employee or agent of Walden or entitle you to receive employment benefits from Walden.  If you would like a certificate with your name and the Honorary Clinical Instructor designation, please email Supervisor Appreciation with the correct spelling of your name and any credentials you would like included and we will send it to you.

Access to our Walden library.  For access to the library please email Supervisor Appreciation.

No-cost continuing education opportunities. Preceptors receive no-cost continuing education opportunities.  Preceptors receive an email communication directly from us at the end of the term once all requirements are complete with information on how to access the no-cost continuing education opportunities.

Tuition Reduction of 15% * applied towards a Walden University master’s or doctorate program or certificate.  Visit Tuition Reduction Opportunities webpage for details.

Job and internship posting specifically for Walden students. Preceptors and sites may post job and internship postings specifically for Walden nursing students.  Find information about this at https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/careerservices/about/foremployers.

Thank you again for your service and for providing a transformative experience for our students as they grow as professionals prepared to serve the public good.

The tuition reduction cannot be used by a student in combination with any other tuition reduction benefit. The tuition reduction is not applicable for students enrolled in Tempo Learning® programs.

Walden may change the tuition reduction offered hereunder at any time, but such change will not affect the tuition reduction for students who are currently enrolled at Walden and using the existing tuition reduction.
