About George: I am a teacher and author of eight books and many shorter pieces of writing, including essays, stories, poems, plays and reviews. In addition to teaching at Walden, I teach at New York City College of Technology, where I am Professor in English and a past Scholar on Campus. I live in Western New York State with my wife and son. My hobbies include gardening, fishing and minor-league carpentry.
My Advice to Walden Students
Live every day as though it were their last. I don't mean run out today and travel the world or buy dream houses
or immediately gather their closest friends and relatives for reunions, necessarily. I mean try to find pleasure in everything they do and
everything they accomplish in the course of a day,
and make time to share the moments of joy and laughter with the people closest to them.
Why I enjoy teaching at Walden:
I enjoy teaching because I enjoy watching other people succeed, and I understand by now that success starts with learning how to succeed. I also enjoy the process of discovery, especially with others.
What students can expect from me as a teacher:
As an instructor, students can expect that I will be fair, treat them like colleagues, respect their lives, and share whatever expertise and advice I have to offer.
