About Ben:
I have been teaching English for 20 plus years. I love working with students, hearing their ideas, and learning about writing and other subjects with them. I completed my dissertation on the contemporary African American novel, and I have completed additional work on authors William Faulkner, Langston Hughes, Suzan-Lori Parks and other twentieth century authors. While I place most of my efforts on producing scholarship, I occasionally write short fiction and poetry. I currently live in Oregon with my wife, and I love watching the Portland Trail Blazers in my free time. My PhD is from Southern Illinois University.
