University LibGuides Administration & Style: Page Structure

Guide Page Layout

All guides (excluding the Homepage) must use the layout below. The layout is automatically applied to guides.

Any number of boxes are allowed in the main (right) column, although best practice is to chunk content into separate pages within a guide to avoid excessive scrolling and cognitive overload.

Any amount of content and content types are allowed in a single box, although best practice is to chunk content into separate boxes within a page for readability.

Top-level Site Nav Guide Example

Best practice is to contain top-level site navigation pages and it's related sub-navigation pages into a single guide.

Top-level site navigation item is the guide and sub-navigation (dropdown items) are pages in the guide. Typically, the top-level navigation item is the first page of the guide, unless there is no content on this page.
