Student Veterans Association: Faculty & Staff Advisors

Faculty Advisor: Jennifer Kozar

Jennifer Kozar

I am the proud wife of an Air Force veteran who recently retired after 22 years of service. I have seen firsthand the sacrifices both military members and their loved ones make. As the faculty advisor for the Student Veteran’s Association (SVA), I am grateful to work with Board members who have served in the military or are still currently serving, as they are able to bring important issues to the forefront in the hopes that we can help Walden veterans and dependents.

I have been teaching at the college level for 22 years now. I serve as Core Faculty in Walden’s School of Interdisciplinary and Undergraduate Studies (SIUS). I enjoy teaching Living and Learning in a Technological World, Creative Writing: Contemporary Nonfiction and Poetry, Creative Writing: Fundamentals of Short Fiction, Writing with Confidence and Purpose, Women's Literature and Social Change, and Professional Writing.

I currently serve on Walden’s Inclusive Teaching and Learning Advisory Council as well as the Faculty Administration and Advisory Council. I am also working on several projects, which I hope will benefit both students and faculty. I was also recently recognized with the Winter 2023 Faculty Excellence Award for SIUS. I am very proud of this honor!

Outside of SVA and teaching, I greatly enjoy spending time with my family. I have a 22-year-old stepson and a 12-year-old daughter. They both keep me on my toes. We have a rescue dog, Bella; she is a brindle Mountain Cur. She is about to be 15 years old and the sweetest thing I have ever met. I enjoy going to the beach, cooking, reading, and laughing. Laughter truly is the best medicine!
