University LibGuides Admin Guide: Content Management

Assets

Assets are reusable content items stored and managed in the LibGuides Asset library, and include: links, files, documents, media/widget embed code, RSS feeds, etc.

Each asset must have a descriptive name entered in the Name field

Individual CSS units will set their own standards, if any, for all other aspects of asset management, including but not limited to: asset creation, asset descriptions, asset use in guides.

Images

Images are stored and managed in the LibGuides Image Manager. There are two libraries in the Image Manager:

  • Shared Library:  Anyone can reuse images in this library. Only images that are intended for reuse by multiple people on multiple guides should be stored in the Shared Library. Each CSS Unit should use their unit’s folder in this library. Do not save images in the "ROOT (default)" folder.
  • Personal Library:  Images in this library are only accessible to the user who owns that library. Images that will only be used by a single user should be stored in a Personal Library.

Individual CSS units will set their own standards, if any, for

  • Naming image files in the shared image library folder
  • When to use shared images in guide content

Image formatting should conform to standard established by the CSS Website Working Group.

Content Box beneath the Side-Nav

Walden guide templates allow for an optional box located beneath the side-navigation. An example is displayed on this page.

Course guides will not use the optional content box in the side navigation column.

CSS Units with set their own standards, if any, for use of this optional box on their own departments’ guides.
