Welcome to Sigma Theta Tau Phi Nu Chapter!

The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. The vision of Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service, and learning to improve the health of the world’s people. Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.

The Phi Nu chapter sponsors a nursing student at the Faculté des Sciences Infirmières de Léogane nursing school in Haiti. The nursing student, Tamara, and our faculty advisor, Dr. Tim Bristol, work together when he is in Haiti at an outpatient clinic, triaging patients in pediatrics, internal medicine, and the emergency room. Tamara also assists with mobile clinics to provide primary care, health screening, and education. She is becoming a leader with her peers. By supporting Tamara, Phi Nu is making a significant impact not only on her future, but also on health care in Haiti.
