Social Change Research Proposal
Research proposals may be structured in one of the following ways:

Multi-partner, collaborative, transdisciplinary social change research proposal.

The research or project team must be composed of at least two individuals working in different disciplines.

Maximum funding request = $10,000
-
Individual social change research proposal
-
A research proposal authored by a single investigator.

Maximum funding request = $7,500
Note: Students may be included in the research team, but the team must be led by faculty or staff members. Students are not eligible to be designated Co-PI.

Criteria for Selection
The overall merit of the proposed social change research will be considered and evaluated by Walden’s Assistant President/Provost and the Director of the Center for Social Change, working with the Dean of the Office of Research & Doctoral Services, the Associate Dean of Research & Sponsored Programs, and a review committee.
The final selection will be made based upon the following general criteria:

Intrinsic scientific and technical merit of the work.

Generation of new knowledge and/or innovative solutions to improve social, economic, or environmental conditions.

Potential impact of the proposed activity on the academic field of study (publishability).
-
Demonstration of potential for long-term application of knowledge or practices that can lead to significant positive change for people, organizations, communities, or society.

Likelihood that the award will provide significant progress on research that will serve as the basis for future studies.

Evidence of collaboration or willingness to collaborate with other faculty, staff, or students as appropriate.
-
Demonstration of efficient and effective use of resources.
-
Likelihood that the proposed work would be completed during the award period.
-
Potential for the award to provide a basis for further research support from external sponsors.
How to Apply
This grant opportunity uses an online submission process, which involves a two-step process. Each applicant may submit or be included as part of only one grant proposal.
Step One: Grant Cover Sheet
In this step, we ask you to provide our office (Research & Sponsored Programs) with the administrative information relevant to your RASCG application, such as:

Principal investigator (PI) and co-PI(s) affiliation and contact information.

Grant title
-
Type of grant proposal: research proposal or applied project proposal

Grant proposal structure (see section above titled “Grant Amount & Duration” for details):

Multi-partner, collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and applications for social change
-
Single investigator submitting a social change research proposal or applied project
-
Documentation of research involving human subjects’ approval, if applicable.
This information will be used to generate a cover sheet for your grant application and set you up in our tracking system. Upon receipt of your RASCG cover sheet the PI (or designated point of contact, if there is more than one PI) will receive an email from grants@mail.waldenu.edu with instructions about how to submit the RASCG proposal.
The link provided below will take you to the RASCG Cover Sheet, which will allow you to select relevant fields from drop-down menus, enter individualized text responses, and upload supporting documentation.
Step Two: Grant Proposal
Upon submission of the RASCG Cover Sheet (step one described above) the PI (or designated point of contact, if there is more than one PI) will receive an email from grants@mail.waldenu.edu with a link to the RASCG proposal template.
The fillable template will guide you through the required content for your RASCG proposal. Follow the instructions provided at the end of the template to submit your completed grant proposal.
Please Note: You will need your Grant Tracking Number (RASCG-AE-2025-XX), which is included in the email providing the RASCG Proposal Template.
Once the grant proposal template has been submitted you will receive an automatic reply confirming submission of your RASCG proposal.
Confirmation of Complete RASCG Application
You will receive a separate email from our office confirming that your RASCG application is complete when steps one and two outlined above have been successfully completed and received by our office. Please reference the tracking number assigned to your grant application if you reach out to us with any questions about your application.
