Membership Information & Application
Membership in the Walden University Delta Omega chapter is gained through a competitive process. Those eligible to apply to Delta Omega will be invited to apply based on the eligibility criteria listed above. The application will include an area to provide supporting documentation, as indicated below:
Current students: No more than 20% of eligible student candidates can be elected to membership in a given calendar year. Those students who are elected shall have demonstrated real or potential qualities of leadership in public health in addition to academic excellence. The selection committee will give particular attention to commitment to the public health profession in the context of social change efforts.
At the beginning of the application cycle, emails will be sent by the MPH & DrPH Academic Program Coordinator to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.85 and who are enrolled in or entering their last term of their degree program.
Eligible students must submit the required application (link provided in the invitation e-mail) and include:
- A personal statement of 250 words addressing qualifications for induction into Delta Omega.
- A current CV or resume.
- A current transcript indicating degree progress and GPA.
Alumni: Each year, chapters may induct alumni members in an amount not to exceed half of that allowed for its student inductions for that year. Eligible alumni selected by a nominating committee of at least three members will be invited to apply.
At the beginning of the application cycle, emails will be sent by the MPH & DrPH Academic Program Coordinator to eligible alumni.
Eligible alumni must submit the required application (link provided in the invitation e-mail) and include:
- A personal statement of 250 words addressing qualifications for induction into Delta Omega.
- A current CV or resume.
- A final transcript indicating graduation and final GPA
Faculty: The total number of faculty members elected in any one year may not exceed 3% of the full-time faculty as reported most recently to CEPH via self-study or annual report.
Members of the faculty shall be selected by a nominating committee of at least three members, including the Associate Dean of the MPH and DrPH programs, the Academic Program Coordinator of the MPH and DrPH programs, and the faculty appointed as the chapter advisor. This selection committee will give particular attention to outstanding public health performance in scholarship, teaching, research, and the quality of publications.
