What are the Academic Requirements for Alpha Phi Sigma?

Baccalaureate students shall be enrolled at the time of application in the institution represented by the chapter, have declared a major, minor or equivalent in the criminal justice or related field, have completed three full time semesters or its equivalent, have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum GPA of 3.2 in courses in criminal justice related fields and rank in the top 35% of their class. A minimum of four courses of the above course work shall be in the criminal justice field.

Masters students shall be enrolled at the time of application in a Master’s program in the Criminal Justice field in the institution represented by the chapter; have completed four courses, have a minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. Up to three undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice may be used to satisfy the four-course requirement. These courses must equate to a 3.4 GPA or higher, and the cumulative undergraduate degree program GPA is a 3.2 or higher. In addition, all Masters level coursework must equate to a 3.4 GPA or higher at the institution in which the student is enrolled.

Doctoral Students shall be enrolled at the time of application in a Ph.D. program in the Criminal Justice/ related field in the institution represented by the chapter; have completed four courses, have a minimum GPA of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale. Up to three Masters courses in Criminal Justice may be used to satisfy the four-course requirement. These courses must equate to a 3.6 GPA or higher, and the cumulative Master’s degree program GPA is a 3.4 or higher. In addition, any Ph.D. level coursework must equate to a 3.6 GPA or higher at the institution in which the student is enrolled.


How do I know if I am eligible for  Alpha Phi Sigma?

You must meet all the academic requirements.  Applications MUST be typed and all fields must be completed unless listed as “optional.”

Completed applications must be submitted to the chapter advisor for verification and signature.


When are membership drives conducted each year?

Twice a year: New applications for the 2020 Fall Membership Drive will be accepted during the late Summer of 2020.


Is there a fee?

Yes, for New members there is a one-time $80.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.

Yes, for Honorary members there is a one-time $50.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.

Yes, for Professional members there is a one-time $400.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.

Yes, for Alumni Active there is a one-time $30.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.

Yes, for Alumni Golden Lifetime there is a one-time $300.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.

Yes, for Chapter Member Transfers who want a new certificate (not required) there is a one-time $10.00 non-refundable fee to be paid at the time of application.


How do I order Honor Regalia?

Honor Regalia MUST be ordered by the chapter advisor.  You must send an email request to crjshonorsociety@mail.waldenu.edu to verify

eligibility.  The following items are available for purchase:

Can members from other Alpha Phi Sigma chapters from other schools join this chapter?

Yes, and membership fees do not reapply /at no charge, members from other chapters should provide documentation of the certificate of membership. that will have the required information: previous school and chapter name. You will be asked to attend the upcoming induction ceremony.

What if I’m unable to make the induction ceremony date?

While we would like all of our new members to attend the induction ceremony. We will always induct each member in attendance and absentee.
