VA Launches Enrollment Manager

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will be launching a new certification system for schools called Enrollment Manager which will be available March 6, 2023. Enrollment Manager will replace the current certification system, VA ONCE. The VA ONCE system will sunset February 24, 2023.

We encourage you to take note of these important dates as you register for the upcoming term or make changes to your enrollment. If you register before February 24, 2023, the Office of Military Services will ensure you are certified in VA ONCE. Certification will resume once Enrollment Manager goes live on March 6, 2023.

Please be advised that if you are certified in VA ONCE, the VA should be following their normal payment processing timeline.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition period. If you have any questions about the system transition or your VA payments, please contact the VA at 1-888-442-4551.

Tuition Assistance Update

If you are in the Army and plan to use Tuition Assistance (TA), your enrollment will be uploaded to the IgnitED system no later than 10 days prior to the start date of your course.

You may request TA up to 60 days before classes begin, so please be sure to submit your request as soon as your enrollment is visible. The sooner you submit your request, the sooner Army Education Counselors can approve it. Please note that the Army must approve your TA request before the first day of class for you to use it.

Once Exception to Policy (ETP) is discontinued, this will be the process by which you will request TA moving forward.

GI Bill Summit

On April 14th, 2022 the Veterans Benefit Administration’s Education Service (EDU) will host a virtual GI Bill® Summit via Facebook Live on the VA’s Post 9/11 GI Bill® Facebook page. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from EDU leadership directly concerning ongoing efforts to modernize the GI Bill®, the new monthly enrollment verification requirement, how the expiration of COVID-19 legislation may impact you, and more.

Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020

On January 5, 2021, the President signed into law the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 [Public Law 116-315: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/7105]. Under Section 1019, this changes the way education overpayments and debts are handled by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Public Law 116-315 Section 1019.  Overpayments to eligible persons or veterans.

The new law requires schools to be financially responsible, instead of the student, for returning tuition and fees overpayment under Post 9/11 GI Bill® (including under the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship) and Yellow Ribbon program.

These are the reasons for which a debt will be established on Walden University:

  • The student withdrew from the course and received a W or F grade.
  • The student received a non-punitive grade. Non-punitive grades are W and U grades.

Walden University will now be liable to return any unearned Post 9/11 GI Bill® (including under the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship) and Yellow Ribbon program to the VA. This means that once the overpayment has been returned, there may be a balance on your account less than, or equal to the amount VA has requested to be returned.

If you are impacted by this change after you withdraw from a course or receive a non-punitive grade, VA will mail you an overpayment letter that will explain the debt amount. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the VA at 1-888-442-4551.

GoArmyEd has transitioned to ArmyIgnitED

June 14, 2021

GoArmyED is now fully decommissioned. ArmyIgnitED finished conducting a limited user test from 05/05 through 05/19 for active duty soldiers at Ft. Bragg and JBLM, ARNG and USAR. Soldiers who were part of this testing should contact their Education Office(r) with any questions they may have. All other soldiers will continue using the exception to policy (ETP) process until Army-wide Tuition Assistance goes live. Once Tuition Assistance is back online, the ETP process will be suspended and HQ ACCESS will notify soldiers through Army Career Tracker, S1 Net, and Facebook.

GoArmyEd will transition to ArmyIgnitED

February 5, 2021

ArmyIgnitED will be offline February 12, 2021 to March 7, 2021 to facilitate the migration of the TA program to ArmyIgnitED. Students, schools and Army Education Counselors will not be able to access TA data or functionality until the new system, ArmyIgnitED is available March 8, 2021.

If you have courses starting between February 12, 2021 to March 7, 2021, we recommend that you request TA as soon as possible. To use TA, please email your TA voucher to sponsorships@mail.waldenu.edu by February 11, 2021.

If you have any questions about accessing ArmyIgnitED, please contact your Army Education Counselor or Army Education Office on base or post.

Please note the AI Portal and Navy College portal are not impacted by this migration.
