What are the requirements to join NSLS?

Undergraduate/Masters/Doctoral

  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better

  • 20 overall credits completed at Walden University

When are membership drives conducted each year?

Membership drives vary, but typically, a membership drive will take place every fall and spring. 

Is there a fee to join NSLS?

Yes, the NSLS charges a $95 life-time membership fee (non-refundable) paid directly to NSLS. 

What is NSLS?

The NSLS is the nation's largest leadership honor society.  Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential.  Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.  With 677 chapters, the NSLS currently has 1,032,736 members nationwide. 

In addition to honorable distinction, the NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus or online.  Upon completion of the program, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders at their campus and across the country.  Members are able to list their affiliation on all statements of personal accomplishment, including their resume.  

Membership is for life and provides access to benefits including scholarships and awards, exclusive on-campus events, employer recruitment through an online job bank, and discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance and much more.

What committee options are available to join?

There are several different committee options: Success Networking Teams, Social Change/Community Service, Induction/Event Planning, Membership, Career & Professional Development. To learn about committee objectives and goals of committee, please click on each committee tab for a description.

How do I join a committee?

If you are interested in joining a committee please send an email to waldenunsls@mail.waldenu.edu with the specific committee of interest.

How do I become a committee chair?

Committee Chair & Co-chair selections occur annually unless otherwise specified. You must be a fully inducted member to become a Chair or Co-Chair. 

How do I become a fully inducted member?

For full NSLS membership, you must first pay your lifetime membership fee of $95, and complete all of the steps towards induction. Once completed, you will receive a Foundations of Leadership Certificate, and access to all of the amenities and features offered by the NSLS. What are the steps to be eligible for Induction Ceremony participation?

To be eligible to participate in the Induction Ceremony, you must be a fully inducted member. To ensure that your steps are completed correctly, please view the recorded training below.
