Psi Chi: Membership Information

Membership Overview

Membership is a lifetime honor, and members enjoy an array of benefits. Membership drives are conducted bi-annually: Summer and winter. Students will be notified and invited to fill out an application and to join Psi Chi during a membership drive in which they become eligible.

Eligibility

Please note that the eligibility requirements listed on the Psi Chi website are the minimum requirements, and each Chapter may have additional requirements.

Walden’s Chapter Requirements

Undergraduate Students

  • be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program or a program psychological in nature
  • have completed at least 3 semesters or equivalent of full-time college coursework, which amounts to 75 quarter credits.
  • of the 75 quarter credits, transfer students must have completed 30 of the credits at Walden  
  • have completed at least 9 semester credit hours or equivalent of psychology courses, which amounts to 20 quarter credits at Walden (PSYC 2000 is excluded).
  • have earned a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35% of their class (sophomore, junior, or senior) compared to their classmates across the entire university or the college that houses psychology (minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale)
  • have a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses 

Graduate Students

  • be accepted into and enrolled in a graduate program in the School of Psychology.
  • have completed at least 9 semester credit hours of graduate psychology courses in that program, which amounts to 20 credits (Foundations is excluded).
  • have an overall GPA of at least 3.5 in all graduate courses including psychology courses
  • meet their graduate program's requirements (e.g., if specific courses require an A or B, students must meet those requirements)

Fees

There is a $60 US fee.

  • $55 US Lifetime Member Fee
  • $5 US Processing Fee

Fees are non-refundable.
