Research Ethics:
Office Hours

Research Ethics Office Hours

In a group advising format, an IRB member will help researchers brainstorm solutions to ethical challenges in doctoral research, including:

  • recruiting participants
  • different ways to obtain and document consent
  • minimizing risks for participants
  • maintaining data privacy
  • managing dual roles and possible conflicts of interest
  • sharing results with stakeholders

**New in 2024!** Friday office hour sessions are now specific to discussing questions regarding partner organizations. In these sessions an IRB member can help clarify issues such as:

  • what a partner organization is and whether one is needed for a study
  • when to begin communicating with potential partner organizations
  • understanding a site’s requirements to conduct a study with them

Bring your questions. Explore solutions. Learn from other researchers’ questions and ideas. Go to this Zoom Meeting Room at the listed dates and times below. Hours are in Eastern Time. (Convert hours to your time zone)

Please note the following:

  • An office hours session may occasionally need to be cancelled on short notice.
  • The IRB member hosting office hours is there to provide substantive ethics advice regarding the bulleted topics above. Inquiries about the approval timelines and status of submitted documents must be directed to the Research Ethics Support Specialist via email at IRB@mail.waldenu.edu
  • Note that the IRB cannot identify organizations where a study could be conducted.
