Form 1098-T

The 1098-T is a tax form that the IRS requires higher education institutions make available to qualified recipients. Each year Walden is responsible for providing students with a copy of their 1098-T federal tax form.

Walden University reports the tuition billed each calendar year on the Form 1098-T.

Qualifying to Receive a 1098-T

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria to receive a Form 1098-T:

  • United States citizen
  • Valid Social Security Identification Number on file
  • Had eligible tuition and/or fee charges due during a calendar year

Delivery of 1098-T

All current Walden University students that meet the above criteria will be mailed a copy of their Form 1098-T, which will be sent to the current billing address on file, unless you have opted for the electronic copy only.

Paper 1098-T forms are typically mailed out before the end of January following the end of each calendar year.

You are able to view and print an electronic copy of your 1098-T (for reportable tax years 2009 and forward) by following the steps below:

  1. Log into your Student Portal
  2. Click on the Student Services Tab
  3. Under Tuition and Finances, select View 1098-T
  4. Enter the tax year for which you are attempting to download a 1098-T.
    Note: Only 1098-T forms for tax years 2009 are available from this link. For information about earlier years, please see below.

If you require a 1098-T form for a reportable tax year prior to 2009, please follow the directions below:

  1. Log into your myWalden page and click on the Student Services tab.
  2. Click on the “Manage Your Account¨ link, then on the “1098-T Tax Form” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the appropriate year
