Narration: This video tutorial is going to walk you through how to look for articles that contain business failure statistics or information. We are going to do a search in Business Source Complete and Google Scholar.

Visual: From the Library homepage, click on Articles by topic, scroll down to Business & Management Databases, and click on Business Source Complete.

Narration: From the library homepage click on Articles by Topic and then to Business & Management.  Then scroll down to the Business & Management databases. Now click on Business Source Complete.

Visual: Business Source Complete database advanced search page. A text file containing preselected search terms to enter into the database.

Narration: I’ve already selected some keywords for this search ("business survival" or "business longevity" or "business mortality" or "business failures").  I’m going to highlight, copy and paste them into the search field. You’ll see that I’ve put the terms in quotation marks. This tells the database to look for that exact phrase. You’ll also see the word OR between each term. This tells the database to search for each of these terms.

Narration: Then scroll down and click on the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals. Scroll back and up and hit the search button.

Visual: Business Source Complete database search results and pointing out key terms used by the database.

Narration: You will see that the database is using the words “Business Failure” as a key term. It’s always helpful to see what the database is using as well.

Visual:  Opened up main page of Google Scholar.

Narration: Now we will do a quick search in Google Scholar. I’ve opened up a new tab and the address is scholar.google.com.
