Appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
All appointments are scheduled for 30 to 60 minutes (dependent on schedule options). You may not need that entire time during your appointment, but please plan to arrive at the scheduled time.
Appointments can be scheduled the same day, up until the start time of an available slot
You can schedule 1 appointment per week (or 2) dependent upon schedule options.
You may cancel your appointment up to 60 minutes in advance of the scheduled time. Appointments that have not been canceled are marked as “no shows”.
If a tutoring staff member must cancel an appointment due to an urgent situation, they will try to reschedule with you as soon as possible.
Appointments are available to provide course related skill-level support. Tutoring staff can guide you in understanding pertinent academic topics and concepts to help you complete your course work and assignments independently.
Appointments are not meant to provide time to check course assignments for errors or edit course assignments before submission for grading. ASC tutoring staff will help students learn the concepts to build course related skills for academic success.
Tutoring staff wait for 15 minutes after the appointment start time for you to attend your session. If you do not show after 15 minutes, the tutor will log out of the session. Students who are more than 15 minutes late to an appointment will be marked as a "no show". Please refer to the "no show" policies below for more information.
No show polices:
First violation: More than three missed appointments will automatically disable your account. You will be notified via
e-mail if your account is disabled. You must e-mail asctutoring@mail.waldenu.edu to request your account
be re-enabled. The tutoring administrators will respond within 24 hours.
Second violation: After 3 more missed appointments (second violation), your account is permanently disabled.
Question: I went into the WC Online system, clicked on the appointment box, and nothing happened.
Check to make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off. This might prevent the tutoring room screen from opening after you click on the appointment square in the schedule.
You may already have an appointment open but have that window behind the schedule. In this situation, when you click on another appointment, the appointment is opened, but can’t be seen because it is a separate browser behind the schedule. To fix, simply close all browser windows (or the browser itself) to address the issue.
Question: I went into the appointment room and my tutor did not show up.
Please double-check the time zone difference. All appointments are made in Eastern Standard Time.
Check your Walden e-mail to make sure that the tutor did not e-mail you with an update regarding your appointment (i.e. they are running behind schedule, or they needed to reschedule due to an unforeseen emergency).
Question: I arrived at my appointment a few minutes late, and my tutor was not there.
Tutors typically schedule several back-to-back appointments with students during a block of time. Plan to log into your session 5 minutes early to ensure that you are in the room and there are no technology issues.
Because tutors work on a fairly tight schedule, if you are not in the tutoring room within 5-10 minutes of your appointment start time, the tutor reserves the right to cancel so he or she can prepare for their next session. If this happens, please e-mail us at asctutoring@mail.waldenu.edu immediately to let us know.
