Ideal Students

  • Graduate students without a required Field Experience component of their program
  • The course does not fulfill program requirements, but provides the agreement between the internship site and Walden that many organizations require to accept student interns.
  • NOTE:
    • Students must be enrolled in a degree program
    • Students must submit all documentation for approval at least 4 weeks in advance of the course.

Course Description

As part of students’ approved internship placement, this course is an opportunity for students to apply classroom learning to real-world conditions. Activities include journal entries, evaluations, and reflection on topics such as ethics, communication, collaboration, transferable skills, and social change. Upon completion, students will gain exposure to a professional setting related to their program of study and explore the practical application of skills in the global workplace. 

Course Outcomes

  • Understand how to apply knowledge and skills obtained through internship to future career and academic opportunities 
  • Define professional goals for internship experience 
  • Describe role in promoting social change and in creating a climate of mutual respect in a professional setting
