ScholarWorks Quick Guide: Upload a Work

Before you begin

Create a ScholarWorks author account if you do not have one. You can fill out the ScholarWorks account creation form online. The submission process will require you to log in with these credentials.

Step one: Ensure your work is eligible

The ScholarWorks repository is for sharing the output of Walden University with the wider world. Not every work is appropriate for inclusion in the collection. Items submitted to the repository must fit these three criteria:

  • The item is part of your work for or written during your association with Walden University.
    • If it was written before your hire with us, it is not eligible.
    • If you are credited as a member of another institution in the work, it is not eligible.

  • You have appropriate copyright to share the work.
    • Some journals do not allow authors to share published works. Please see our FAQ on ScholarWorks copyright concerns for more information, including tips on determining your copyright status.

  • You have a digital copy available for upload.

We also recommend that you review the ScholarWorks Submission Guidelines and the Contributor FAQ for complete information on our collection policies.

If your work fails to meet one of the criteria above, is not eligible for upload to the repository. You may still list the work in your Optimal Resume portfolio or other curriculum vitae without a ScholarWorks link.

Step two: Access your school or college submission form

To automate organization of the repository, there are separate online submission forms for each school, college, and center. Click the appropriate link below to navigate directly to the form.

You will be asked to log in to your ScholarWorks account after you click the link. Then, you will read and accept the Contributor Agreement before being redirected to the form.

Note:

  • You may also find these submission links from any page on the ScholarWorks website by clicking the Submit Work link in the left side navigation menu.
  • The repository was created before the RWRCOEL reorganized into schools. Education faculty, please continue to upload using the College link until the library can plan a reorganization project.

Step three: Complete the submission form

Please fill out the submission form as completely as possible. If you have questions about the form, contact us for help.

Upload File

The end of the submission form includes the file upload tool. We strongly encourage you to select the Upload file from your computer option if you have the full-text file on your computer or network. Select this option, and use the Browse button to locate and upload the file into the repository.

PDF is the default format for text documents. If you provide a Word or RTF file, the system will convert it to PDF.
